School Days, School Days....

34

School days, school days, good old golden rule days....The battle cry of mothers everywhere! With joy (and a little bit of anxiety) mothers all over the country are packing lunchboxes, loading up book bags with school supplies and kissing their kids goodbye as they head out the door to the beginning of a new school year. The beginning of another school year for us had allot of similarities to last year. For one thing we are sending another kid to the high school. Jake is officially a seventh grader. I think that last year was kind of hard on him because he was at a different school than DJ and Coley, but the three musketeers are together again! He is having some issues with the fact that seventh graders are the lowest of the low and he's not the big kid on campus anymore. He is slowly learning not to take things too personally, like when the upperclassmen run through the 7th and 8th grade hall yelling, "Seventh graders SUCK!!!" The twins, however, are very happy to have been bumped up a level on the food chain known as high school! Eighth grade seems to be a good thing, at least so far! DJ and Coley were both very disappointed to only have a few classes with their friends, but they have managed to muddle through alright.

High school bound!!!

Another similarity to last year is that we have also sent another kid to kindergarten. Hannah is in afternoon kindergarten this year and absolutely loving it. She is such a social butterfly that the opportunity to be surrounded by kids that are potential friends is positively thrilling.

She was a little bit apprehensive right before the bus came. She kept saying that she thought that she was going to throw up. She is her mother's child that's for sure. (For those of you that didn't know me when I was younger, I basically threw up every morning before school because I was nervous. I still do this on occasion, my wedding day for example. )

Thankfully Hannah has a wonderful little sister who kept blowing bubbles to make her smile. Good job Gia!

Don't you just love the bright pink eye shadow??

Gia and Noah were so upset after Hannah left. Gia kept asking me why she couldn't go to school too. She wanted to know why Hanah had to "be borned first." I told her that she would need to take that up with God.

Hannah, Gianna and Noah while we were waiting for the bus.

It's a bird....It's a plane....It's SUPER NOAH!!!!

Gianna and Noah went outside to play, after Hannah got onto the bus. They came back into the house after about 5 minutes complaining that it was really boring with only 2 kids. They went on and on, "Two kids is soooooo boring. There's nothing to do with just 2 kids!!!"

Isaac was so excited for first grade. He was relieved to find out that his best friend Gavin is in his class. I was expecting him to be a crabby tired mess by the time he got home from school, being that this is his first year to go all day. He was definitely tired, but the crankiness basically doesn't set in until right before bedtime. When I asked him what his favorite part of the day was, he said, "Lunch of course!!" What a boy!
The final similarity to last year is the promise and potential of a new little life. (NO, I'm not pregnant again!) But last year we found out that we were expecting number 8 on the first day of school. And this year number 8 has a name and a sweet little face! Last year we were wondering if the baby would be a boy or a girl. What would he/she look like? What color would his/her hair and eyes be? Now we know the answers to those questions, but we have so many more... Our sweet little Aiden Joseph, isn't just the promise of a new life, he is actually here! He has such joy and happiness in his big blue eyes. His sweet little laugh is so infectious! What will he be like when in 5 years I am putting him on the bus? I don't want to think about that...I'm just going to hang on to him while I can.
